BUCKSKIN |
BLACK BUCKSKIN (also known as dilute black)
The coat is almost black, slate or rust over all the body. The dilute black is the darkest of all the buckskin shades, it is alos called smoked. In winter the coat could look like a liver chestnut, dun or brown but all these are incorrect. To determine the real couleur of these horses you need to look at the breeding or a DNA test to isolate the Ccr gene. The diluted black is sometimes confused with the liver chestnut but looking at the very bottom of the hair we can see the smoked couleur.
